Christmas Eve

Sunday turned into Monday, Christmas Eve, with Mary and I on the road to Albany from Massena, about a four hour drive. We left home about 9pm, and picked up Evan, having arrived from Portland, OR, at about 1am. We turned right around and headed home, getting home at 6am. Needless to say we got little to no sleep, but that didn't matter much because it was soooo good to see Evan. He made us laugh half way home with all his impersonations and the like. This evening we spent our traditional time together complete with opening up our presents. It was a good evening as everyone liked the gifts they received and we just hung together for a time. Since Dane got some new skates he wanted to go skating, so we went out to Alcoa park and hit the ice for a few mintues. Tomorrow we make the annual Christmas trek to my parents and then to Mary's mom's. This is the first time since I have been born that my parents are not hosting a meal for Christmas with the whole family present. My dad said that my mom really was not up to it this year. As much as we would like to at times, we cannot stop time and it just keeps marching ruthlessly on, no matter what kind of a toll it takes on lives. Anyway, we will see my parents tomorrow, but will not be having the traditional dinner there.
